Program
Michael Hess was in charge of the program. His speakers were Nikki Cunningham, Business Teacher and FBLA Sponsor at Thayer High School, and FBLA members Courtney Horton, Nicole Lundry, and Laken Martin. They presented an excellent program on "The Dangers of Driving and Texting." They will present this program at the FBLA District Competition on February 10.
Foundation Minute
Brian Davis presented a Rotary Foundation Minute about a Matching Grant to provide clean water in India.

OREGON COUNTY FOOD PANTRY: Bob read a thank you letter from the Oregon County Food Pantry.
AUCTION COMMITTEE MEMBERS met at Bob Cicigoi's house on January 25 at 6:30. Members of the committee are: Joe Garrison, Larry Forschler, Steve Russell, Glynda Pryor, and Bob Cicigoi.
RYLA APPLICATIONS are due March 1.
DISTRICT MATCHING GRANT APPLICATIONS are due March 1. We are going to write the grant for our "Don't Meth With Us" Program.
2012 ST. JUDE'S RADIOTHON: Bob Eckman announced that the St. Jude's Radiothon will be held Wed., February 8.
DON'T METH WITH US: Catharine McPherson gave an update about the program. She and Joe Garrison presented to Couch fifth and sixth grade students last week. She reported that the students were attentive and interested in the program. She will probably present at Kosh and Thayer in March.
BOARD MEETING: The Board met Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Fred's Fish House at noon.
ATTENDANCE COMPETITION: There was a tie for the attendance contest. Doyle and Bob's teams won and Angelika and Glynda's teams lost. There will be a dinner on February 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the Elementary Cafeteria to celebrate the contest.

OLD ISSUES OF THE ROTARIAN: Bob asked that we bring old issues of the Rotarian to a meeting. The old issues will be placed in Doctors' and Dentists' Offices. This will increase awareness of Rotary in our community.

Thayer-Aaron Honeycutt
Aaron is a senior and is the son of Bill and Carrie Honeycutt. His activities include Beta, FCCLA, FBLA, Football and Senior Class President.
Mammoth Spring - William Shattuck-Jan.
William is a sophomore and is the son of John and Julia Shattuck. His activities include Beta, Drama, National Honor Society, and Quiz Bowl.
Haley Childers-Dec.
Haley is a junior and is the daughter of Dean Childers and Tera Childers. Her activities include Beta, Band, and Student Council.
Spotlight on New Members
MICHAEL HESS: Michael is the Thayer High School Principal. His spouse is Dana and they have three children, Abby, Chandler, and Jordan. His Bachelor's Degree is in Secondary Education from Kansas State University. He has a Master's Degree from Fort Hays State and is currently working on a Doctorate from Kansas University. His last job was Assistant Principal at Junction City High School in Kansas.
LOREN WHETSELL: Loren is the pastor at St. Paul United Methodist Church and Alton United Methodist Church. His spouse is Lucy Bell, and they have two children, Lindsay and Torsten. He has a B.A. from UMR in History; a M.A. from University of Missouri-Columbia in British History; and a Master of Divinity Degree from St. Paul School of Theology. His previous job was pastor of Hallsville United Methodist Church. He also teaches Online History Courses for St. Charles Community College in St. Peters, MO.
DAN CHAPPELL: Dan is the Superintendent at Thayer School. His spouse is Kathryn and they have two children, Matthew and Elizabeth. He has a BS from MU in Horticulture, a M. Ed. from MU in Ag Education and a Specialist Degree from MSU in Administration. He spent 15 years in the Cabool School System as an Agri Teacher, High School Principal, Football and Girls Basketball Coach. He was the Superintendent at Dora School for the last two years.
GLENDA PRYOR: Glenda is the Assistant Superintendent of Mammoth Spring State Park. She is from Mangum, OK and graduated from OSU in Stillwater in 1987 with a degree in Wildlife Ecology. She began working for Arkansas Parks and Tourism in 1988 and has worked at several state parks including Petit Jean, DeGray, and Lake Catherine. She moved to the Thayer-Mammoth Spring area in November, 2004.
ANGELIKA SEIBER: Angelika raises Johnson American Bulldogs. She has three sons (ages 25, 20, and 17) and attends the Mammoth Spring United Methodist Church.
TRENA SPEARS: Trena transferred to our Rotary Club from the Quad Cities Rotary Club in Sharp County, Arkansas. She is married to Justin Spears and has two children (ages 20 and 9). Trena is a Financial Representative for Modern Woodmen of America. She has an Associate's Degree from SMSU; a B.S. in Physical Education from ASU; and an M.B.A. in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University. She attends the Agnos Church of Christ.
LINDA PREBBLE: Linda is the Nurse Practitioner at Mammoth Spring Medical Clinic. She is married and has eight adult children and 24 grandchildren. She started in the health care business 30 years ago as an LPN. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Salem College in West Virginia, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from West Virginia University, and Master's Degree from South Dakota State University. While in South Dakota, she worked in a variety of positions with Indian Health Services. In 1998 she and her family moved to Texas where she continued working in rural health care. Her family began vacationing in Arkansas and fell in love with the area and decided to move here.
DARRON COMBS: Darron lives in Thayer and is a realtor at Combs and Associates Century 21 Real Estate Company. He is a graduate of Couch High School and has attended MSU-WP. He previously worked at Central Ozark Machine in Alton. He has a two year old daughter.
